Making BEASTies: dynamical formation of planetary systems around massive stars

چکیده

Exoplanets display incredible diversity, from planetary system architectures around Sun-like stars that are very different to our Solar System, planets orbiting post-main sequence or stellar remnants. Recently the B-star Exoplanet Abundance STudy (BEAST) reported discovery of at least two super-Jovian massive in Sco Cen OB association. Whilst such do have Keplerian discs, it is hard envisage gas giant being able form hostile environments. We use N-body simulations star-forming regions show these systems can instead capture a free-floating planet, direct theft planet one star another, more star. find this occurs on average once first 10Myr an association's evolution, and semimajor axes hitherto confirmed BEAST (290 556au) consistent with than theft. Our results lend further credence notion distant (>100au) orbits may not be their parent

Turbulent planetary nebulae around [ WC ] – type stars ⋆

Through a high-resolution spectroscopic survey, we analyze the velocity field of 16 planetary nebulae with [WC]or wels-type nuclei in comparison with 8 nebulae having other central star types. We found spectral evidence for finite turbulent velocities in [WC]-type planetary nebulae superimposed on an essentially constant expansion velocity pattern. The nebulae around O-type stars show no eviden...

Eta Carinae and Nebulae Around Massive Stars: Similarities to Planetary Nebulae?

I discuss some observational properties of aspherical nebulae around massive stars, and conclusions inferred for how they may have formed. Whether or not these ideas are applicable to the shaping of planetary nebulae is uncertain, but the observed similarities between some PNe and bipolar nebulae around massive stars is compelling. In the well-observed case of Eta Carinae, several lines of obse...

Formation of massive skyrmion stars

As it is well known for stiff equations of state an existence of neutron stars with masses ∼ 2M⊙ is possible. Especially interesting possibility is opened if the equation of state based on the Skyrme theory is realized in nature. This equation of state was proposed recently by Ouyed and Butler. We discuss different channels of formation of massive rapidly rotating neutron stars. We use a popula...

Dynamical habitability of planetary systems.

The problem of the stability of planetary systems, a question that concerns only multiplanetary systems that host at least two planets, is discussed. The problem of mean motion resonances is addressed prior to discussion of the dynamical structure of the more than 350 known planets. The difference with regard to our own Solar System with eight planets on low eccentricity is evident in that 60% ...
